The Coronation cause a great deal of excitement across all of our Elmfield Care<\/a> Homes, with the big day celebrated with special events<\/a> and parties. It sparked plenty of conversations and chats around our residents\u2019 memories of the last Coronation. For many of our residents, they got involved in big bakes in advance of the Coronation or they helped to mark the occasion as part of our community \u2013 but, for one resident, she wanted to do more.<\/p>\n

One of our residents, Rosalie, at Flowers Manor<\/a> decided that it was time to get in touch with one of our local residents and invite them to pop in when they were passing. This local resident happened to be none other than Queen Camilla. Previously the Duchess of Cornwall, Camilla became the Queen Consort upon King Charles\u2019 coronation. While her official title is Queen Consort, the title of Queen is also used for Queen Camilla.<\/p>\n

While Queen Camilla lives in the Royal Palaces of Buckingham Palace, Balmoral and Sandringham as she moves around the country, she also retained her own property in Lacock. Ray Mill is her private home which she uses as a bolthole when she needs to get away from the public eye. With Lacock only three miles down the road from Flowers Manor in Chippenham, it really does make Queen Camilla part of the local community.<\/p>\n

Rosalie\u2019s Royal Writing<\/strong><\/p>\n

Working with Flowers Manor\u2019s Lifestyle Manager<\/a>, Rachel, Rosalie wrote a letter inviting Queen Camilla to visit Flowers Manor when she was passing. Rosalie made light work of the letter; following a career as a short hand typist, Rosalie still enjoys typing to this day.<\/p>\n

Rosalie, Rachel and everyone at Flowers Manor were thrilled when they received a beautiful letter back from the Queen Consort on 24 June 2023. Rosalie was very pleased that her own letter had been received and acknowledged. Rosalie said, \u201cWhat a beautiful letter from the Queen – how lovely she wrote to me. Her picture was really beautiful. It is nice of her to take the time to write. She must have liked my letter. Let\u2019s hope she visits soon\u201d<\/p>\n
