Flowers Manor is privileged to be located in close proximity to the town center, enabling regular town trips for residents. Trips out have become a favorite activity, offering opportunities for exploration and relaxation. The residents can indulge in various interests during these outings, such as shopping for personal items, visiting the local museum to enrich their knowledge, and enjoying the peaceful ambience of the park while feeding ducks. The trips to town also provide a chance for the residents to socialise with each other and build connections with the wider community. For example, popping into the local pub for a favorite tipple allows the residents to unwind and engage in friendly conversations with the locals. Overall, regular trips out have enhanced the well-being and social engagement of residents here at Flowers Manor.

In an effort to strengthen the bond among the male residents, Gemma, our Deputy Manager, organised a get-together in the Sky Bar. The gathering aimed to provide the gentlemen with an avenue to socialise and get to know each other better. The main topic of conversation during the event was their childhood memories. This activity created an atmosphere of nostalgia, allowing residents to share stories from their youth and reminisce about their past. It not only facilitated meaningful connections among the residents but also promoted a sense of camaraderie and understanding. By fostering an environment where the residents feel comfortable sharing their personal experiences, Flowers Manor encourages emotional well-being and a sense of belonging among its residents.

During the intergenerational week, Flowers Manor took the opportunity to promote learning and connection by inviting children from a local nursery to spend an afternoon with the residents. Since the nursery children have been learning about careers, the residents and staff members volunteered to share their own career experiences. The residents spoke about the jobs they currently do at Flowers Manor, as well as the careers they pursued in the past. This exchange not only provided valuable insights into different professions but also allowed the children to interact with and learn from the older adults. Following the career discussions, the children were encouraged to share their aspirations and the fun jobs they would like to pursue when they grow up. This intergenerational activity fostered a sense of community, promoted empathy, and empowered the young children to dream big.

The recent activities enjoyed by the residents at Flowers Manor have had a positive impact on their well-being and engagement with the wider community. These activities have created opportunities for exploration, relaxation, socialisation, intergenerational learning, and the formation of meaningful connections. Flowers Manor continues to prioritise the residents’ happiness and fulfillment by organising diverse events that cater to their interests and foster a sense of belonging. It is through such activities that the residents at Flowers Manor can truly enjoy a vibrant and enriching lifestyle.

To see more of what our residents get up to in our home check out our Facebook page, Flowers Manor Care Home or Instagram page at elmfieldcare.

Recent Activities Enjoyed by Our Residents at Flowers Manor Regular Town Trips: A Chance for Exploration and Relaxation Flowers Manor is privileged to be located in close proximity to the town center, enabling regular town trips for residents.
