With a sharp drop in temperature and generally gloomy skies, it has been loud and clear that autumn has arrived. There are plenty of exciting things planned to keep us entertained indoors (while still enjoying the occasional ice cream).

Residents of Old Sarum have been having a whale of a time with multiple entertainers and performers this month so far. Chico Sings and Pat-A-Pet have been huge hits. We further enjoyed a singing and dancing duo, a vocal musician leading sing-alongs, and a lively session of Songs of Praise with Vicar Jean of St. Thomas’ Church. We’ve also been baking regularly, playing lots of Bingo, Quiz Nights and Dominos, and making some absolutely gorgeous art!

Its very important to us here at Old Sarum Manor to keep our brains and bodies as active as possible. Once a week we have wonderful Exercise Specialists come to lead our residents (and often staff as well) in Armchair Exercises. The residents really enjoy these visits and are enthusiastic participants. Its always a great laugh and is looked forward to with anticipation. Finally, for our brains, we have been incorporating more memory and critical thinking quizzes and games into our schedule. These help keep us sharp and build up our brain muscles! The quizzes often devolve into absolute madness and hilarity, but that is good too!
