Residents of Old Sarum Manor gave us \u00a0their relationship advice, which was published in our local newspaper and online news platforms on Valentine’s Day.<\/h2>\n

With Valentine\u2019s Day approaching, residents of Wiltshire care homes have offered advice to those seeking assistance in matters of the heart.<\/a><\/p>\n

Elmfield Care asked their residents at Flowers Manor Care Home and Old Sarum Manor Care Home what relationship advice they have, with advice such as\u00a0\u201clearn to give and take\u201d<\/em>,\u00a0\u201ctreat each other with love and care\u201d<\/em>, and\u00a0\u201cbe careful when you get married\u201d<\/em>\u00a0being shared.<\/p>\n

Focusing on caring for each other was a common theme. Lavinia, 84, Jill, 83 and George and Pat, 91 and 90, shared the advice\u00a0\u201cappreciate one another\u201d<\/em>,\u00a0\u201ctreat each other with kindness\u201d<\/em>, and\u00a0\u201clook after each other\u201d<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Derek, 80 and Mary, 81 shared optimistic advice. Derek shared that\u00a0\u201clove is what you make it\u201d<\/em>\u00a0for those looking to be happy in love and Mary shared \u201cbe yourself and enjoy life.\u201d<\/p>\n

Val, 82, Di 71 and Margaret, 92 also offered valuable insights into successful relationships. Val emphasised choosing the right partner, sharing\u00a0\u201cmake sure you are right for each other\u201d<\/em>. Whereas Di urged us to be cautious saying\u00a0\u201cbe careful when you get married\u201d<\/em> and Margaret, 92 stressed compromising as the solution to being happy in love and shared \u201cin marriage you\u2019ve got to learn to give and take\u201d.<\/p>\n

Rachel Gittins, Head of Lifestyle, said:\u00a0\u201cWith Valentine\u2019s around the corner, we wanted to ask our residents what advice they would like to give to those wondering how they can be happy in love.<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cMany of our residents have had long, happy relationships and we often find with age comes perspective and wisdom.<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cFrom focusing on give and take to appreciating and looking after each other our resident\u2019s advice was so lovely and helpful for those out there who may be looking for love this Valentines Day.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n
