Our residents love to get involved in projects of all types and the sky\u2019s the limit when they have a plan in mind. Many of our residents have grown up alongside her Majesty, The Queen, with their life events mirroring hers. Weddings and babies, then grandchildren and great-grandchildren; many of our residents feel a strong kinship with Queen Elizabeth II. It was no surprise then that some of the residents of Flowers Manor decided to wish her Majesty, The Queen, a very merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.<\/p>\n
Working on the letter to the Queen caused great excitement and our residents were able to collect their thoughts and wishes and express them in a deeply personal way that they hope would connect with Queen Elizabeth. Our wonderful care team helped our residents to pull the letter together. Then, we ensured that we had some beautiful writing paper and best handwriting \u2013 it is the Queen after all \u2013 and the letter was posted with our heartfelt best wishes for the festive season.<\/p>\n
Then, our residents got involved with our other Christmas activities and the weeks flew happily by.<\/p>\n
It was a surprise, however, when a letter arrived from The Palace.<\/p>\n
There was great anticipation and excitement around the opening of the letter, as not everyone has received a royal letter. Arriving in a thick off-white envelope, the team of writers gathered to see what was inside.<\/p>\n
The envelope contained a personal letter – one for each of the authors of the Queen\u2019s letter \u2013 from the Queen\u2019s Lady-in-Waiting. These letters thanked them all personally and individually for the thoughtful letter that they had sent to the Queen. This response made them all extremely happy and caused a buzz of excitement that was shared in by other residents. Writing to the Queen proved to be a worthwhile and rewarding experience which has generated a personally written reply from The Palace. Their letters mark a memory that they can cherish forever, sharing it with their families when they come into visit and spread their sense of happiness down through the generations of their own family.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
