Christmas is a special time of year where we take time to exchange gifts, kind thoughts and best wishes. At Old Sarum Manor, our community gets very involved in marking the festive season with themed arts and craft sessions and sing-alongs. It’s a time for mince pies and special Christmas treats, but the residents of Old Sarum didn’t expect the surprise delivery that arrived for them from our sister home, Flowers Manor.
Flowers Manor Care Home is Chippenham, near the Flowers Yard area of the town. Our sister home, Flowers Manor has a thriving community too, and the residents were inspired by the time of year to do something fabulous for the residents of Old Sarum.
Bringing some much-needed light and love to the darkest days of winter, the residents of Flowers Manor set themselves to working on a thoughtful and kind project – writing Christmas cards to the residents of Old Sarum.
Both care homes are situated in Wiltshire and our residents are united by their carefully planned activities schedule. As they approached Christmas, the residents of Flowers Manor had the fantastic idea of sharing festive greetings with their Old Sarum counterparts. Choosing the cards and writing messages of warmth and Christmas cheer proved to be a popular talking point, with the activity really capturing the imagination of all involved. They didn’t stop at beautifully scribed cards, however.
The residents of Old Sarum Manor were treated to a huge pile of chocolates. Our residents truly enjoyed spending time opening and reading the cards before sharing them with others to read. It was deeply thoughtful of the Flowers residents and very much appreciated by our community. As if the warm wishes weren’t enough, the chocolates proved to be a great talking point and brought a lot of joy and merriment to our community time.
The residents of Old Sarum Manor would like to express their gratitude to their Flowers Manor counterparts for their Christmas cheer that brought so much happiness to the short dark days of December. They also wish everyone at Flowers Manor a very Merry Christmas.
