A Delightful Visit: Alpacas Bring Joy to Old Sarum Manor Care Home
Residents and staff share special moments with Lane House Alpaca Farm’s gentle animals
Old Sarum Manor Care Home was delighted by a special visit from the wonderful ladies of Lane House Alpaca Farm in Chippenham. The farm, home to 103 alpacas, kindly brought along two adorable and well-behaved alpacas—Renegade, a striking black alpaca, and Heartbreaker, a beautifully tanned one.
The alpacas were welcomed into the reception area, where residents, staff, and family members eagerly gathered to meet them. We then took a gentle stroll into Grace’s bedroom, where Grace, a passionate animal lover, remembered the alpacas’ previous visit and was filled with joy upon seeing them again, her smile lighting up the room. Another resident also came out to say hello, sharing in the happiness.
Our walk continued down the corridor, stopping at each bedroom. Shirley, with her keen curiosity despite her limited sight, got up close to the alpacas to see them more clearly. After visiting all the residents on the ground floor, we stepped outside into the garden for some fresh air and sunshine.
We spent some quality time in the dining room, allowing residents to interact with the alpacas and enjoy their calming presence. The joy and comfort that animals bring to our residents is truly remarkable. The team from Lane House Alpaca Farm was incredibly patient and caring throughout, making this morning an unforgettable experience for everyone involved.
