Over 25 Years of Performing, Sean Brings Happiness and Connection to Our Care Home Community
This week we had the pleasure of welcoming a talented new singer to our care home —Sean. With over 25 years of performing experience, Sean has graced stages on cruise ships and visits care homes in his hometown, bringing joy through his music.
Sean reached out to us earlier this year, and we were delighted to book him for a special performance. Music plays a vital role at OSM, offering numerous benefits such as reducing stress, enhancing cognitive function, boosting mood, and improving memory.
Arriving at 10 a.m., Sean prepared to start his performance at 10:30 a.m. Residents from each floor gathered in the ground-floor dining area, eager to enjoy his singing. Sean performed a selection of timeless classics, many of which resonated with the residents, who happily joined in singing and swaying along to the music.
By his second song, Sean had captivated the audience, filling the room with smiles and lively singing. Shirley Ritchie and Val enthusiastically sang along, while Bet, Jean, and Dianna swayed to the rhythm. Maureen and Anthea expressed their admiration, asking when Sean could return. The positive feedback was truly heartwarming.
After the performance, I had a chance to sit down with Sean over coffee and share the residents’ wonderful reactions. We’re pleased to announce that Sean is booked to return in August and October, and everyone is looking forward to his next visit.
