Old Sarum Manor One of First Vaccinated Care Homes in Salisbury
Old Sarum Manor Care Home in Salisbury is delighted to announce that its staff and residents received the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine on the evening of Thursday 21st January. This was carried out
at Old Sarum Manor by the local Vaccination Team and we were very pleased to be one of the first vaccinated care homes in Salisbury.
Home Manager Claire Lousteau said she could not thank the Vaccination Team enough for working with us to ensure that we all had access to the vaccine.
“We are also incredibly grateful to the scientists and all those who have been involved in delivering the COVID-19 vaccine in such a short period of time. It really is a miracle, and testament to the ingenuity and resilience of humanity.”
It has been a difficult time for residents, families and staff and we are looking forward to life returning to some form of normality at our vaccinated care home in Salisbury.
Whilst the vaccine is clearly amazing news, the safety and well-being of our residents continues to be our top priority. We will keep following Public Health England and Government guidance, as well as the procedures we have put in place. These include full PPE, whole-home testing multiple times per week, social distancing and enhanced cleaning regimes. We also do not use any agency staff and all our staff only work in our care home, which reduces risk.
We are encouraging residents to stay close to their loved ones with safe visiting in our beautifully designed, specially adapted Garden Room. We also help residents to stay in touch with their families via video calls (Facetime, Zoom, etc) using our iPads.
We continue to welcome new residents for both long- and short-term placements. We provide the highest standards of personalised residential and dementia care, along with first-class service, in our stunning new home.
