Elmfield Care Group have made a large step forward in sustainability.
Our Housekeeping Chemicals and Product supplier, Belper Care, have been in each of the Elmfield Homes to install their new Plastic Solution container bottles.
What this means for Elmfield, is no more single use plastic for chemicals in our Housekeeping and Catering Departments. In each home, 400-500 chemical bottles are sent to landfill or burned each year. Due to the bottles holding hazardous chemicals, they are unable to be recycled.
The Plastic Solution offers a wall mounted refill system, where the containers are designed to last a lifetime. Belper Care regularly collect the empty containers after use, and they are returned to the factory to refill and be sent back out with new stock in.
We’re incredibly thrilled to be part of this REUSE and REFILL initiative. Our third home, Nodens Manor Care Home, already benefits from Solar Panels and use of Digital Papers and Magazines, so they are especially thrilled to have been the first of our 3 homes to have this installed – furthering their sustainable approach.
Elisha, Head Housekeeper at Nodens Manor “feels very excited to see this type of reuse and refill product being used in a care home of our size. I hope we’re one of many care home groups to start using this system that helps the environment we live in, and takes a step forward to less plastic waste. It was great to have Belper Care in to provide training to our teams directly for this as well.”
Plastic Solution Co-Founder Chris Tapp said: “We are delighted to partner with Elmfield Care, being the first care home group to adopt our unique zero plastic waste programme. Their commitment to driving this unique initiative across their estate is an admirable example to the wider care sector.”
