Nodens Manor is always a busy place that’s bustling with the happy chatter of our community, but we recently marked a very special day for one of our residents.
The first resident to join us at Nodens Manor, IC, turned 95. We made sure that her day got off to the very best start possible, by decorating her door with balloons and decorations to bring an early morning smile to the birthday lady and her neighbours.
With a small pause for a delicious breakfast, the next surprise came in the form of a delivery of fabulous flowers. IC was thrilled to receive the blooms that had been commissioned from a local and independent florist called The Flowerpot. While our home is already bright and colourful, IC’s floral display certainly brings with it a dash of summer blossom and vibrant hues.
You’re only 95 once, so it’s important that the people around you get to make a proper fuss of you. IC marked the morning of her birthday with a pamper session at our in-home salon. With the ultimate in relaxation of a hair wash and braid led by our in-house hairdresser, IC was ready for the next part of her exciting day – lunch!
As with many of our big occasions here at Nodens Manor, we welcomed IC’s family to join her on her big day. For her birthday lunch, IC’s daughter dined along with our residents and Quality Director, Maria. While the meal was delicious, IC had luckily left a little room for her next surprise.
Tea and Cake with Friends
Just after lunch, IC was surprised by our Sous Chef, Michal, our General Manager, Bart, and Front of House Manager, Charlotte, with a home-made birthday cake and a chorus of Happy Birthday. The cake was a splendid creation with every last detail considered.
A light-as-air Victoria sponge had been jam-packed with a blackcurrant jam and buttercream icing to create the perfect balance of sharp and sweet. As much a treat to look at as to eat, IC’s cake was finished with cream spirals, a chocolate drip and spun sugar decorations. Outstanding!
Next on the to do list was to enjoy the cake, which IC did in the afternoon when she was joined by some friends for a visit. They relaxed together with a cup of tea and a slice of birthday cake, but the day was not over for IC yet. Yet more flowers were involved as IC enjoyed a flower arranging session to complete her happiest of birthdays.
We hope that IC had a very happy birthday and the whole team at Nodens Manor would like to thank her for sharing her fun, laughter and excitement with us. Thank you, IC!
