2023 was a busy year for Nodens Manor Care Home. We received our CQC Registration on 4th April, and we welcomed our first resident, Ken, that afternoon.
In May, we showed the Kings Coronation on our big screen, hosted our first Pop-Up Restaurant (Greek themed), celebrated World Cocktail Day in our Coffee Bar and met the local Fire Brigade.
In June we had some fun Flower Arranging outside in our gardens, we celebrated our first Resident Birthday and had some fun starting Knitting Club. We also celebrated ‘Glad to Care’ week – a week to shine a light on our amazing team and the extraordinary contribution they make to those they care for in our home.
There were many more events throughout July and August, we had our first big Summer Party where we enjoyed live music, a bouncy castle, and a BBQ feast. We headed out on our first outing to Taurus Crafts, and we started some fun craft and garden projects – making use of our beautiful Garden Rooms for these activities. We also met a few staff pets; Hop a Giant Rabbit, and Bramble a stunning labrador.
In September, we focused on attracting birds to the garden by building bird houses and feeders. We began expanding our Library with a variety of books for everyone and enjoyed some live music – we definitely had a dance and sing along! During the month, we also started to grow our brilliant team by hiring additional Care Assistants and our Lifestyle Team.
In October we spent a lot of time feeling autumnal and preparing for Halloween and Harvest celebrations. We decorated pumpkins, made autumnal art, and did a collection for a local food bank. We played Bingo with Crossroads Gloucestershire and their Friendship Group and enjoyed our Cookery Classes!
In November we opened our Bar after our residents requested a dedicated area they could relax and enjoy their favourite tipple. Residents competed with the staff in Darts and Connect 4 and found a love for jigsaws. We now even have a jigsaw station set up!
Finally, December brought our first Christmas. We enjoyed an Animals Interactive visit where we met the cutest skunk and meerkat; some residents were even brave enough to hold a snake! We watched a Pantomime, sang along with Carol Singers, and enjoyed plenty more fun. We even had our Hairdresser in to style us ready for the festive season in our Beauty Salon – a real treat!
Thank you to everyone who has supported us in 2023. We are excited to see what 2024 brings us….including our 1-year Anniversary in April!
