We’re watching the progress of Elmfield’s latest care home, Nodens Manor in Lydney.
Creating a care home from the ground up is a truly wonderful experience as we get to put facilities and amenities in pace that we know will make life so enjoyable for the residents that will join us. From working out the peaceful colour scheme, to creating places from which to enjoy the view of the garden from the windows, it’s an exciting time.
We can already imagine our residents settling in to our 66 en-suite bedrooms and spacious and airy communal areas, which include our Bar and Tea Room, our Salon and one of the most important places, our dining areas.
We’re thrilled to be receiving so much interest, both from potential residents and from people who want to join the Elmfield Care family. We’re excited about meeting you all and crafting the finest care team in Lydney.
The home’s name is deeply steeped in history, giving a nod to two great civilisations – the Romans and the Celts. Nodens Manor takes its inspiration from the Roman-built temple in nearby Lydney Park. Lord of the Rings author, J. R. R. Tolkien, was invited to examine a Latin inscription at the site and has linked the name Nodens back to Nuada, a Celtic healing god worshipped in Ancient Britain. The site at Lydney Park is said to have inspired Moria and Eregion in Tolkien’s Middle Earth.
You can see how Nodens Manor will look when completed by viewing our Interactive Tour of our Salisbury home, Old Sarum Manor. You’ll be able to get a great feel for the layout and you might even imagine yourself moving in!
