What happens when someone moves into a care home is a question we get asked frequently. All our Residents had lives before they moved into our home and we want to help them continue to engage with the community, make new friends and enjoy themselves.
Our fantastic Lifestyle team will get to know our residents likes and dislikes, their favourite places to visit, what they like to do in their spare time and much more. They make sure to include things that they love on the weekly activity planners, that could include trips out into the local community, activities in the home like flower arranging and board games and even musical entertainment coming into the home.
On recent outings our Lifestyle Team took our residents to the Wye Valley Butterfly Zoo where they got to experience all the beautiful butterflies in their natural habitat. Residents have also been out and about in the local community many times enjoying walks down Lydney docs to take in the scenic views and trips to the picturesque Hereford Cathedral.
As much as trips out are important for the mind body and soul it is also very important to keep our residents entertained in the home too. Residents have recently taken part in Gardening Club where they have been getting ready for the summer as well as feeding the birds. They’ve enjoyed having lunch in the courtyard on the warmer days and loved a movie in the cinema on the colder ones.
Our residents often tell us that they were lonely before moving into our home, but since moving in they have made new friends and are still able to do the things that they love.
