Communication between generations is the golden thread that keeps families together. However, when different generations are using different ways to talk to each other, it can prove frustrating for all involved. Time also means different things to different people. For the family of loved ones in our care homes, it can mean taking a moment in between work meetings or family responsibilities to ping off a quick message with an update or just ‘Hello’.
To an older person battling with technology, struggling with messages, emails and apps can lead to extreme frustration and make them feel isolated. For those who don’t have a smartphone or would want to navigate their way around one, life can feel lonely. Famileo is a superb solution and one that we’re using to great effect at Flowers Manor. Famileo works for both parts of the conversation and it means that everyone can communicate in the way that they feel comfortable with.
The Digital / Print Crossover
With Famileo, every member of the family can post messages and photos from their smartphone, PC or tablet. That means that every baby photo, school update, celebration, thought or memory can be captured and shared with the resident – but this is where things get really clever! Family can use the Famileo app – available on the iStore or Android App store – to generate their messages and Famileo will transform this into a printed newsletter that is sent to the care home resident for them to enjoy over a nice cup of tea.
This, in turn, creates a wonderful family resource that can be read and reread whenever they want to. It also means they can be shared and shown between residents who like to keep their friends updated with what’s happening.
Famileo At Flowers
We’re already using Famileo at Flowers Manor and it is proving really popular with our residents. As a home, we’ve signed up to Famileo which means that both our families and residents can access the service as a little bonus for being a Flower.
