One of Flowers Manor’s much-loved residents celebrated her birthday last week and the team were thrilled to help her enjoy her big day.
With a home named like ours, it’s unsurprising that we often give our residents flowers for their birthday. But Jean is a little different. Jean arrived at Flowers Manor just over five months ago, so this is her first birthday with us. We’ve enjoyed enough time with Jean to know that she doesn’t like flowers to close to her. Our team put their heads together and came up with the perfect alternative – a little gift to make Jean smile.
Our team pulled out all the stops to show Jean how important she is to the people around her. Serving a delicious afternoon tea in our light and bright Garden Room. Jean’s niece and her husband spent a very happy afternoon with Jean and her Flowers Manor friends, having a laugh and a chat – and of course, a fabulous piece of birthday cake and a cup of tea.
Jean’s afternoon tea party was the culmination of an exciting day. Opening a card and a present from Jenny from Move It or Lose It, our gentle exercise expert, Jean was thrilled to discover that she was so well thought of.
Everyone wants to look their best on their birthday and Jean is no exception. A quick make-over in our in-home salon made sure that Jean’s hair was looking its best and that her nails had fresh colour. Ready to wow her guests, Jean then went on to her afternoon birthday tea. It’s really important to our team that they’re able to celebrate our residents’ special days with them and they’ll always work hard to understand what each of our residents would like to do. Some of our residents like to spend time with family while others see it as a treat for their friends from Flowers Manor to enjoy with them. Whatever they would like to do, we’re on hand to help make it happen.
Our team was delighted when Jean declared, “ I love it here. It couldn’t be in a nicer home. The staff are all so good to me and the afternoon tea party they organised for me was lovely.”
