Pet therapy is a popular activity at Flowers Manor, so residents were delighted to see Poppy, the Shetland Pony visit.
Residents here at Flowers Manor Care Home love all types of animals visiting the home and they get many benefits from their visit. This weeks visit was a Shetland pony called Poppy that measured 7 hands and is in her 30s.
Our late Marg’s family organised Poppy to come and visit the home in memory of their late mother on her birthday month. Marg didn’t like ponies or horses, but with our regular visits Marg got used to them and she was so proud of herself for getting so close for a photo. Her family said it had to be a pony or horse-themed activity.
On the day the residents gathered in the Lavender suite where Marg lived, ready for the arrival of Poppy. Residents had all had a wonderful time meeting Poppy and getting to pet her!
