Residents enjoy an up-close experience with majestic birds, sparking joy, memories, and meaningful interactions
This week, Flowers Manor Care Home hosted a truly special event that brought excitement and joy to our residents. A professional falconry team visited, introducing us to a selection of magnificent birds of prey. The residents had the unique opportunity to learn fascinating facts about each species—from their hunting techniques and habitats to their impressive wingspans and keen eyesight.
One of the most memorable moments was when residents were guided to gently hold the birds. Many bravely donned protective gloves and experienced the thrill of having these beautiful creatures perch on their hands. For others, simply being close enough to feel the soft feathers and watch these majestic birds up close was equally special.
The afternoon sparked engaging conversations, with residents reminiscing about countryside walks, spotting owls at dusk, and childhood memories of caring for animals. The visit provided not only entertainment but also numerous therapeutic benefits. Interacting with animals can help reduce stress, stimulate memory, and promote social interaction.
A heartfelt thank you to the falconry team for a memorable, educational, and heartwarming experience that will be cherished by all.
